Four More Christ-Centered Families

This project smells an awful lot like a project done about this time last year. After completing the Christmas gifts for my parents and my in-laws (as seen in this post) in 2014, Kim and I decided it would be fun to build the same for each of our siblings. In spite of having plenty of time, its funny how time gets away from us. So the ornaments were created for the Crawford side first. Cuttings - you are still in process. Esperense!

This project was among the more tedious attempted, but certainly filled with the greatest amount of love. 24 names were cut, with the respective names placed in one of four hand-made boxes, secured with a red bow. All of the names were placed surrounding the name of our savior, Jesus Christ, who each of these four families holds near to their hearts.

This batch of names was made with Olive wood, which I found to be rather appropriate. The material came courtesy of Aaron Locey, who mills and sells all kinds of different wood. Aaron asked me if I wanted some slabs of Olive, to which I naturally obliged. It has an incredible aroma - while milling this wood, the shop had an incredibly rich smell, as if an olive bomb had gone off. Quite impressive.

Anyway, the Olive seemed to be appropriate, considering the concept of Christ-centered families. It was in the Garden of Gethsemane, in an olive orchard, that our savior suffered for the sins, pains, and heartache of all humanity. It felt right to carve the names of His children in a wood that most closely touched His sacrifice.

Merry Christmas, Tyler, Brenda, JJ, Lisa, Shawn, Lucrecia, Heather and Jared, and to each of your beautiful families... may these names adorn your tree and remind you of the blessing that your family is to you.
